Join us for a film screening of Breaking the Blue Wall which follows an activist and a lawmaker as they push to repeal the oldest and strongest police shield law in the country, Maryland’s Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights.
About the Director: Alissa Figueroa is an Emmy-nominated journalist, filmmaker and professor at Morgan State University. She previously directed the Ida B. Wells Fellowship for investigative journalists of color at Type Investigations. Prior, she was an investigative producer at Fusion, where documentaries she directed won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the NABJ Salute to Excellence Award, among others. She’s a 2020-21 Knight-Wallace Reporting Fellow and 2022 Film Independent Fellow.”
About the Editor: Richard Yeagley is a documentary editor and producer based in Baltimore, Maryland. His work has been featured by The New Yorker, PBS, Vice Media, and Hulu. He has edited three feature-length documentaries, including The Sunday Sessions and Divisible, and specializes in crafting verité-driven documentaries, shaping observational footage into intimate, character-centered stories.
